Hi All
You probably heard me rave about the JavaPosse Round Up in Crested
Colorado when the JAVAWUG was active.
Well, another regular, Andrew Harmel-Law, a Scot, has taken the reins
and got some sponsor to run a JPR UK 2014 at Skills Matter.
Here is the verbatim email that I received late night:
==================
Hey Peter,
I finally managed to get time to write this. As I hinted last night
on twitter, I've managed to get Cap to fund a UK version of the JPR.
Dick's going to be there (unfortunately none of the other guys can
make it) as he's keynoting Devoxx UK right afterwards. (Amazingly I've
got a session there too.)
Anyway, here's the details:
Dates: Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th June, 2014
Times: 08:30 for 09:00 - 20:30 (day one) and 08:30 for 09:00 - 17:30
(day two). There is also a coffee shop and pub next door for
spill-over sessions
Venue: Skills Matter, 116-120 Goswell Rd, London EC1V 7DP
Theme: "Open Sourcing Corporate Software" (normal "just a guide" caveats apply)
Cost: £95.00 for early-bird registrations (10 days from Monday 12th
May), ~£150.00 after that (usual affordability caveats from Dick
apply)
Other info:
- Sessions will be recorded and podcast under CC as usual
- The afternoons will be hackathons / do what you like as usual
What I'm (and Dick is) hoping is two-fold:
1. That you'll want to, and be able to come.
2. That you can get the word out to as many relevant user communities
/ groups that you have relationships as possible. Ideally as close to
Monday as possible (see below).
Registration will open up on Monday via a page which will go up at
skillsmatter.com. If you like, I can get Natalie (who's setting all
this up for us there) to mail you when the page is there to be
broadcast.
Anyway, better go. Loads more to do.
==================
Look out for the announcement on Monday
Sadly to 1) I am in the middle of contract, so I am unluck to attend
the JPR UK 14 event ;( But you should go. I will be at Devoxx UK on
Thursday and Friday, same week.
3) I am off to JavaCro.org this weekend Croatia to give a keynote and
a presentation myself.
