Dear Peter,

I currently have the following position advertised; Java Developer / Reading / Financial services / £42k-£45k

Software Developer (PC/E Specialism) - Banking Professional Services  

The Software Developer will lead the design and build of new software components (to subsystem level) in accordance with agreed specifications, ensure the robustness of this software and produce detailed documentation. Additionally, the Software Developer will assist with analysis and support activities.

You will need to :-

·           To assist with systems analysis and design activities

·           To create software component designs and specifications

·           To build software components and test these components

·           To produce unit and link test plans and test results

·           To create test data and an appropriate test environment for unit and link testing

·           To undertake integration testing, systems testing, acceptance testing and implementation. To assist with the production of test plans

·           To write detailed systems documentation

·           To assess the effort required for the design and build of new software components and produce estimates of time to be spent on work

·           To identify requirement for 'change control' and to ensure any additional effort is properly approved

·           To ensure software configuration management is completed for all development activities

·           To ensure appropriate, comprehensive and timely reporting of work and early escalation of any issue that may impact on the quality or delivery timescales of software

·           To complete audits of software components produced by other developers. To participate in technical 'walk throughs' of components, test plans and results of other developers

·           To lead the 'hand over' for new software into the support environment, including knowledge transfer and personal assistance during the transition and early support phase

You will need to have/demonstrate:-

·         Experience of Java software development ideally gained in a commercial environment

·         A strong technical background either gained by practical work experience or via a technical degree qualification

·         Proven knowledge of ...

·         Able to work effectively to high quality standards and tight deadlines.

·         Able to analyse problems and identify solutions

·         Positive interpersonal skills supported by experience of working in a team environment.

NB: It is a requirement of this role to travel and spend time on customer sites primarily in the UK and Ireland and a driving licence is required.  There will also be occasional travel to Wincor offices in Europe.
