networking no longer blocks

So i just put in a commit designed to make the frozen app (caused by
incoming network calls) go totally away. I have only done some
preliminary testing, but it looks good so far. There are still a few
places I need to incorporate the changes, but I just wanted to be
excited that the main stuff seems to be working, and much better now,
and we have lost no functionality - so I will still be able to inform
users that they are behind a firewall and other game players cannot
contact them. Also, seems like the new way of doing it gives us a
pretty decent speed boost, I had hosts showing up in my Multiplayer
Lobby in ~1 second. I am testing this all in the same room though.
