Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting, I hope this topic does not violate any list rules. My name is Jason Dean and I am a member of the Steering Committee and Content Advisory Board for cf.Objective(), a local (Bloomington, MN) enterprise web development conference.
If you have heard of cf.Objective() you may think of it as a ColdFusion conference, and historically, it has been. However, over the last few years cf.Objective() has become an all-around developer conference with many topics that would appeal to web developers using any server-side language/platform. In 2011 we added a js.Objective() track, and we've never looked back. We also, typically have a Front-End and Mobile track and general web development content in other tracks as well.
At cf.Objective() 2013 (last May) over 60% of the topics were not related to ColdFusion, rather they were focused on:
- JavaScript
- JS Libraries and frameworks
- Productivity and automation tools
- Node.js
- Git
- PhoneGap and Mobile Development
- Coding Standards
- Development Environments
- D3.js
- Mobile security
- AMD
- And more.
The archived schedule for cf.Objective() 2013 can be viewed at
http://cfobjective.com/schedule/. As you can see, it is a diverse line up covering many technologies other than ColdFusion.
For cf.Objective() 2014 we hope for an even more diverse line up of speakers and topics. In the past the majority of cf.Objective()'s speakers have come from the ColdFusion/CFML community. We would like to reach beyond that and bring in members from the JavaScript and Web Standards communities. So whether you have heard of ColdFusion or not, or said to yourself "ColdFusion, people still use that?" (yes, we've heard that before), we welcome you to consider submitting a topic for cf.Objective() 2014. The ColdFusion/CFML community is a welcoming group that would love to hear from those outside of our community and make new friends and find new opportunities in the web development world. We are very excited about JavaScript and Web Standards and would like to hear from those that work with them everyday. You may have heard that CFML developers live in the past working on legacy applications. This is not true, especially for the audience of cf.Objective(). We're excited about the future of the web.
Some topics we may be interested in are:
- JavaScript, jQuery, underscore.js, and other JS Libraries
- JavaScript MV*
- JavaScript testing (TDD, BDD, etc)
- Test and Deployment automation (Karma, Grunt.js, etc)
- Dependency Management
- Front-end Development, UI/UX, CSS
- or any other topic you think would appeal to a wide range of developers

We look forward to your submissions.
