Hi,

Do take a look at http://adoptajsr.org . We had some discussions about this at the recent IndicThreads conference but keen to know if others think it would be a good idea for the Pune Java User Group to "Adopt A JSR".

This program is intended to encourage JUG members to get involved in a Java Specification Request (JSR) and to evangelise that JSR to their JUG and the wider Java community in order to increase grass roots participation. JSRs cover all aspects of the Java ecosystem such as the new Date and Time API coming into Java 8, the latest JavaEE 7 APIs for the cloud and much more!

Thanks,
Harshad

  Hi Harshad

I have gone through it and looks interesting to me.

Since I do not know how much time I need to commit, I would like to work at starter and intermediate level to begin with, if possible.

Regards,
Shashank

Sounds good Shashank.

Any JSR you have in mind? Starter / Intermediate would be fine.
I am optimistic of many others joining in once the ball gets rolling.

Great to see the spike in interest.
There are no set rules as to number of hours or nature of contributions. It's up to us to decide which JSR we want to adopt and how much we want to put into the effort.

Please take a look at the adoptajsr.org. Especially the "Getting Started" & "What do we work on" sections

We could look at JSRs around commonly used technologies like JSR-344 (JSF 2.2), JSR-345 (EJB 3.2), JSR 346 (CDI 1.1), JAX-RS... Or pick up one of the newer tech.

Suggest JSR/s and we could let the people driving AdoptAJSR know about it.

Thanks.
