What about it? I'm not in the habit of following every random link
that is popped up without an explanation. What reason is there for me
to follow this one?

Vince: It makes sense if you listen to posse #192. Basically, some
journalist interviewed Dick Wall about Android, took Dick's gushing
report of androids utter coolness, crumpled it up, tossed it in the
garbage, made up a bunch of quotes Dick never said (in the lines of
apologizing for android, for example), and printed it. None of the
Posse were willing to say who it was, but if anyone guesses it, We'll
see a +1 from one of em. Peter is making a stab at it and guessing Ed
Burnette.

Over the years I've had news articles about myself or projects I was
involved in. Every single time I have read such an article and
thought to myself "that's just not quite right".

The icing on the cake was when I was attending a movie preview
screening of Resident Evil. For some reason, at one point, everyone
in the cinema decided they should start a loud conversation amongst
themselves. In a fit of controlled rage I yelled "Shut up!" across
the cinema, which was greeted with instant silence and a few giggles
from my girlfriend. Of course, one of the journalists reviewing the
film claimed that he was the one who silenced the crowd. It's never
nice to have credit stolen from you, but I thought this was an
especially odd thing to take credit for.

+1 for the guess, but I should also moderate the response here a bit
too. For the record, I certainly never apologized for anything. I did
say that the core platform would be completely open-sourced, and that
some applications for android might not be (it is not a requirement
that every app that runs on top of Android be open sourced, and that's
true for anyone writing an android app, including Google). I didn't
say anything about application specifics, although the column makes it
look like I talked about specific apps. Anyway, it was the overall
negative spin that irritated me, along with being the only name
singled out (despite the number of people Ed talked to on that day).

Cheers

Dick

It does indeed. Unfortunately, I'm always several days behind "The
Posse" because of the fact that I listen to about a dozen podcasts -
though only one related to computing - (and always in strict
chronological order because I'm like that). Had the original item in
the thread given just a tad more information about what he was
referencing (e.g. a podcast I hadn't reached yet) then all would have
been well.
