JCPenney is seeking a Senior Java Developer with 6+ years of
experience for our offices in Plano, TX. This is not your simple
coding job! We are working to attract a great candidate who has the
ability to code AND the capability to be a thought leader on our
development team.

Salary will depend upon work history. JCPenney offers a fair, market
rate compensation package based upon the experience a candidate
brings.

TOP FOUR REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE:
1. 6+ years of Java Development experience on the presentation layer
of the application with at 4 years of experience on the middle tier
and back-end of Java applications.
2. This job is for someone that will think outside the box - not just
a coder! We want someone that will ask questions if things do not
seem effective and efficient. Complete analysis, design, programming
and implementation of viable solutions for highly complex business
problems with multiple application interfaces according to user
specifications.
3. Ability to provide leadership to complete root cause analysis,
design solutions, write code, perform testing, provide documentation,
and implement large development project.
4. GO Getter Attitude! Self starting individual as well as a team
player with strong verbal and written communication skills to
effectively interact with technical and business teams.

ADDITIONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Demonstrates initiative and drive to complete work in an ambiguous
environment.
2. Advanced knowledge of software development practice, concepts,
technology and methodology obtained through formal training, and work
experience.
3. Demonstrates skills in Java/JSF, Facelets, Spring, Hibernate,
jUnit, Maven, XML, JMS, SVN, Apache, Eclipse, or similar tools.
4. Preferred experience with DB2, Tibco, WAS, Sonar, AIX, Websphere.
5. Demonstrated aptitude for logical thinking and the ability to see
the larger picture.
6. Preferred experience with Scrum and XP.
7. Excellent partnering, communication, and negotiation skills so as
to effectively communicate between technology development, business
and support groups.
8. Analyze and resolve highly complex or multiple problems
concurrently.
9. Test and implement systems and enhancements using techniques which
meet generally accepted design standards.
10. Responsible for immediate response to and resolution of software/
application problems.
11. Preferred experience in web based applications within the Retail
Industry.

DAILY JOB DUTIES FOR THIS POSITION:
This person would be co-located with a cross functional application
development team to analyze, design, develop, test and implement a
highly integrated item setup/management application. They will be
using Scrum and XP as software delivery methodologies. They will be
expected to work core hours with the rest of the team. They will also
need to interact with other service areas within the IT Organization.
