Prediction Logic in face recognition

 I have the following questions and request you to kindly advice

1. Can confidence value be used to find a match or no match? if yes then how to interpret these values for match and no match? else how to judge face match or no match?

 2. Is there any material/documentation i need to go through to understand this? 

I already gone through http://docs.opencv.org/modules/contrib/doc/facerec/facerec_tutorial.html tutorial .There is no reference for prediction method that how it calculates the confidence.

Please suggest. thanks in advance
