newbie question- getting Style node (styleUrl)

I have code that does placemark.getStyleSelector() to get my style objects but I can't figure out what to do if my Document has Style nodes.

I can do placemark.getStyleUrl() but then how do I use the Url String to get the styles?  Can anyone provide advice or a sample snippet?

Ah, I see it's in the document.getStyleSelector.  duh...
