Position  Tittle: ETL QA TESTER

Job Details:

As an ETL Data Tester the incumbent will create and maintain test scripts for new and existing tests.  Will execute tests for Data related projects and validate the results, documenting problems and test results, communicating findings to management.  The incumbent writes test cases & scripts to test the Data deliverables based on Data warehouse/Data Mart and ETL Artifacts and stores scripts and other deliverables in the testing repository.  Provides estimated labor and determine product delivery schedules; creates and maintains test plans and strategies.  Manual testing may be expected depending on project needs and existing automation. Incumbent creates test cases, test data and test procedures and raises concerns through appropriate channels, as needed, to facilitate a quality implementation.  Coordinates all test activities in a team environment to drive towards a successful project delivery and meet agreed upon milestones.

 

II. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related field is required plus 4 years prior professional work experience is required or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related field plus 5 years prior professional work experience required. Prior professional work experience must have been as an ETL/Data Programmer role or Data Test Engineer role. Professional work experience must include hands-on work with SQL. Must have good understanding of the testing discipline as it applies to the Agile and Waterfall software development methodologies.

 

III. CONDITIONS OF WORK AND QUANTIFIABLE DATA

Physical Environment:  Standard office environment (preferred).

Travel: NA

Work Schedule:  Standard work schedule (40.0 hours per week).  Works in excess of standard work week as required during peak project periods.  Weekend or evening hours may be required to meet testing deadlines.

 

IV. JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics):

• Working knowledge on SQL and Query surge (good to have).
• Understanding of Data Models, Data Schema, ETL and stored procedures, SQL queries to perform back-end data warehousing testing.
• Experience in understanding Source Target Mapping.
• Ability to create and execute strategies and test cases for applications that use ETL components.
• Good understanding of Data Models and Data warehousing concepts.
• Data Warehousing knowledge and data validation experience is preferred.
• Experience using SQL for data validation & verification.
• Understanding of database systems with experience designing and tuning SQL queries in Microsoft SQL, IBM DB2, Oracle
• Prior knowledge of ETL principles & concepts, Insurance (Agent commissions) preferred
• Must have the ability to comprehend technical requirements & architectures in order to generate test cases with optimum test coverage.
• Experience logging defects, and tracking them to closure by following the Defect lifecycle.
• Experience working on an Agile scrum team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Driven self-starter and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
