We are seeking a Senior Java Developer with Spark Core expertise to join our team supporting high-volume financial market data processing initiatives. This position based in New York City (750 Seventh Avenue) with a hybrid work schedule requiring 3 days onsite per week. The ideal candidate will have 10–20 years of hands-on backend development experience, a strong background in Java on Linux platforms, and recent (last 3 years) experience with Spark Core using Java.

Key Responsibilities
· Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend applications using Core Java and Spark Core.
· Optimize and scale data processing pipelines to handle high-volume market and trading data.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define architecture, and implement solutions.
· Perform code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve code quality and system performance.
· Implement stored procedures and complex SQL queries for data access and transformation.
· Write scripts in Shell/Python for automation and data processing tasks.
· Follow Agile and DevOps practices in a fast-paced development environment.
Required Qualifications
· 10–15 years of Core Java backend development on Linux (not Windows).
· Strong experience in multithreading, object-oriented design, and service-oriented architecture.
· At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Spark Core and Spark SQL using Java (not PySpark or Spark Streaming).
· 5+ years of experience with SQL, stored procedures, and data modeling in large RDBMS environments.
· Familiarity with Spring, data structures, algorithms, and common design patterns.
· Proven experience developing event-driven and rule-based systems.
· Strong experience with Shell scripting and Python for automation.
· Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
· Solid communication skills and experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience working in financial systems, especially with risk and trading data.
· Understanding of MPP architectures and scalable data processing.
· Familiarity with NumPy, Pandas, and Python-based data engineering tools (a plus).
