learning paths

i have just finished learning core java and want to learn some advanced topics. can anyone suggest a learning path as to where to start first.

It depends on what you want to learn next. Are you interested in Desktop application development or web application development. If it's desktop, you should take a look at Swing or JavaFX next. If it's web / enterprise applications, there are a whole lot of frameworks for different tiers. You could start with Spring or go the Java EE route.

I know a very small fraction of the available frameworks, so this is by no means a well qualified answer. You have hugely bewildering choices of frameworks and lots of fun learning ahead of you. There are lots of similarities, so pick one and start learning, and the others will make sense too  Good luck!
