Canonical meta-attribute

Hi everyone,

I was looking at the site, and noticed the page makes usage of the canonical meta-attribute to link to itself. This is more than fine if it's original content, but not good when it isn't. Google flags it as duplicate content, so either the original post gets a lower Page Rank, or the Java Advent Calendar, or worse - both.

Since the Java Advent Calendar is a community effort and doesn't care that much how many hits it gets during the year, I think linking to the original post would fix the situation, with no adverse effect.

What do you think?

Hi Nicolas,

welcome. Good catch, I will look into it later.

Thank you,

Answering my own question:

The WordPress instance already has the Yoast plugin: it's possible to set the canonical URL on every post.
