Hi.

Late like always, but let's make it happen anyway. December is approaching fast and we would love to have Java Advent 2019 happening. Anyone up for it?

Looking forward to your contributions!

All the best,
The Java Advent Team

I can do 2 articles: 1 on Eclipse Collections another on Kafka. Two questions:
1) Where is the schedule to get a date? Helps in planning.
2) Last year there was an issue with Medium integration. Is that still the case? If it is, where would you like to have the article?

    I can also do two:

   - Elasticsearch SQL;
   - comparing ML libraries in popular big data processing frameworks (Spark, Flink, Ignite).

P.S. Is there a spreadsheet as last year where we can put topics for the dates ?

I'll pick up an article with the working title, "Yes Java is still free, let's please stop discussing this."

The article will address the explosion of custom JDK offerings (Corretto, AdoptOpenJDK, Liberica, Dragonwell, Zulu, etc), why they exist, and where "free is." We can analogize that "Java costs money" took the place of "Java is dead," neither of which is accurate.
If possible, I can touch on feature sets or JavaEE->JakartaEE also but that might be scope creep.

Hello guys,

thanks for jumping boat like always. Here is the excel, please fill in the articles and the dates you would like to start with. Please start with the first days, it would help in organizing the things.

Thanks!

Hi Nikhil.

This is good news! Looking forward to your articles!

Could you elaborate on what you mean with Medium integration? We do have everything in a good old Wordpress installation. Yes, there are other ways to host this. Unfortunately, time was a rare resource this year, so we will stick with it and try to make at least the old articles accessible again. For next year, we will look into other options.

Cheers,
Holger

We tried to have the blogs published on medium. But if we want to do it using Wordpress like last year, I am fine with it as well :)

I agree that using a medium publication would make easier for me to publish and for people to find it.

I can contribute an article on project Vahalla, after the ljc workshop.

Hey guys,

I don't want to be the grumpy old guy, but I won't take part in the initiative this year if it's published on Medium. Sorry for that...

No worries. I think if an author wants to have his article on Medium, he / she can re-publish it once it went live on JavaAdvent (ideally with a backlink). We will host our content ourselves ;)

Would you be up for it then?

Hello,

I have booked a slot. I've noticed there are several empty slots: shall we try to fill them all?

If yes, shall we ask more contributors? Or do we ask existing contributors to add more slots? I can find one or 2 more, but it's still a long shot to have one post per day.

Best regards,
