In the "Initial-Project-Scope" it is suggested to use GPL3. I
personally would use minimal restrictions i.e. Public Domain for the
code. Any opinions on that?

I know that OSI discourages attempting to put software into the public domain: http://www.opensource.org/faq#public-domain.  In the ongoing debate about copy-left vs. permissiveness, I find myself in agreement with the zen master described here:  http://jasonpriem.org/2011/02/open-access-3-koans/ (#3).

Daniel probably has an opinion.

Cheers!

Thanks, I was not aware of this.

Hilarious and enlightning.

Cheers

Hi, Konrad, one more question:  will you be able to attend the conference yourself, in person?  It doesn't matter if not; it's just that the submission form asks who will be attending.

I am strongly in favour of Public Domain dedications for data but can't see any way in which this code could meaningfully serve as data any time soon, so I won't object to GPLv3.

Just to my defense - there are several succeful examples of open
source software that use Public Domain like sqlite and qmail. In
general I am more a BSD license (ISC [1]) person but we can work with
GPLv3.

Cheers
