Hi JATOS users!

My colleague is having a problem running JATOS v3.3.4 locally on Windows. (We're using an older version on our server so need to use a compatible version locally).

When she tries to run JATOS v3.3.4 by double-clicking on loader.bat, she gets this error in the command prompt:
Could not find or load main class play.core.server.NettyServer

Here's her Java version info:
$ java -version
java version "1.8.0_201"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_201-b09)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.201-b09, mixed mode)

She's able to run JATOS v3.3.3 without this error, so I don't think it's a Java version issue, but I could be wrong...

Does anyone know what's causing this error and how to fix it?

Thanks,
Becky

p.s. Apologies if the answer to this is online somewhere and I missed it. I searched this group, the JATOS docs, and the Github issues but couldn't find an answer.

Hi Becky,
I can't remember to have seen this problem before. I don't really have an idea what might cause it. From the error message it looks as if part of the JATOS installation is missing, maybe some library in the lib folder. I guess you tried already to install it a second time? And can you give another version a try, 3.3.6 should be compatible with this one.
Best,
Kristian

Hi Kristian,
Thanks for your response. I'm stumped too!
I'm pretty sure she tried downloading and installing v3.3.4 again, but we'll try that one more time just to be sure.
And thanks for the suggestion to try 3.3.6 - I wasn't sure how far beyond v.3.34 we could go before running into compatibility issues.
I'll post here if I have any updates.
Thanks again for your help!
Becky
