I am in contact with Paul Whitehead and we spoke and email
occasionally. I had hoped he would contribute some percussion to the
new Pillory/Battle recording but unfortunately his (old) manager did
not forward my emails to Paul (so he is on the CD only in sprit). I
have not been in touch with Eddie Jobson for many, many years but I am
still so grateful that I had the opportunity to work with him. Eddie
really is an amazing musician and it was fantastic that he was willing
to join the madness (known as the Neoteric Orchestra). And I have not
seen Ruth Underwood since my Zappa days. It was fantastic that we
worked together since she recorded almost exclusively with Frank.
Organizing 40 musicians to record that first Pillory record was a
magical experience and I am amazed (and happy) that it still receives
so much interest- 25 years after its release. And no, I never even
thought to ask Frank to join in. I did play him some early Pillory
mixes and he gave me some great suggestions. He said he really liked
my music and that meant a lot to me. In hind sight, I should have
asked Zappa to record something for The Pillory... he probably would
have said "sure".
