Peter,
I am very curious on this project and would like to become involved, however the download link has been disabled. Is there another download location? Or a possibility you could send me an email with a copy of Jasper attached? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time,
                                                      Joshua

Hello Joshua,

I believe it`s available again. Dropbox isn`t a great hosting site for this stuff. If someone could host it somewhere else after downloading it, would be great.

It depends on your platform.

A rar is YAAF (Yet another archive format) just like a zip, tar, gzip, etc. You need to find a program to de-rar or un-rar.

On Windows I use 7zip, which is an excellent GUI / command line archive tool.
This is at the top of the search for OSX: http://www.unrarx.com/

Once you un-rar the file you should get an image file.

Follow these instructions to get the image file to the SD card:

You can either click this link:

Or (preferably), use this magnet in a torrent client:

Any chance we could get a completely pre-built and working image for the b+ using pocketSphinx?
The current pre-built image doesn't really help since pretty much everything still needs to be downloaded, compiled, and installed.

I followed the installation instructions completely and it does not work at all.
The problem is that the phonetisaurus package is broken. It requests python:any, which does not exist and cannot be installed.
Even when forcing the package to be installed and manually installing dependencies, the jasper.py program crashes with runtime errors.

Don't mind my previous post. I did eventually manage to get it working. I just needed to reboot it again and the dependency issue straightened itself out.
You still do need to manually fix the dependencies with phonetisaurus for it to work, though, which can be a bit frustrating.

You have to install one image or the other. You can't install both. There are instructions on the Raspberry Pi webpage on how to install an image: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/installing-images/

I'm going to share some information that will help you with etiquette on forum posts. I'm glad that you're interested in the Pi and that you're trying something new. Please keep asking questions and learning. I like that about you. I hope you do something wonderful with the Pi. I hope that you know that I'm telling you this information to help you better participate on online forums.

I'm not yelling or angry, but I think you need to know that it is rude to ask "plz help and make instructions". 1) If you're going to ask for help, please use full words and sentences. If you want me to spend my time helping you, please use an extra two seconds to spell out the word and show respect. I understand that it is normal to write like this to your friends, but it is not the same when you are first contacting strangers on the internet  2) When you say "plz help" you're implying that your need is greater than anyone else's on the forum. You really don't ever have to use "plz help" in a post, because asking a question is asking for help. If you do want to include it, please say something like "Can you please help me, I'm having problems understanding how to...".

Telling us to "make instructions" means you're ordering us to spend a lot of time doing something. That's not a question or a request. It's a demand. I don't know you and if you tell me to do something, I'm not very likely to want to help you. A more constructive way of saying this is, "I'm a new user and I'm a little confused by the process. Do you know of any detailed instructions?" and then "I still don't understand. Would you be able to help me with more detailed instructions?". If I didn't already know that there was a URL with the instructions, I wouldn't have posted this.

Ok,

Thanks for the help but I had a 1 proplem because I couldn't extract the files.

Here's what I did but i'm not sure where I went wrong, your the expert here i'm only 11:

1. I downloaded the the jasper rar image and made it into a disk image with 7zip
2. I downloaded noobs.
3. I then extracted the noobs image so you can see all the files.
4. I then sloted in the jasper disk image. (not the .rar image.)

Sorry again and thanks for your help.

This is the method I use to write the cards, works in raspbian/osmc/etc...

When I use the image provided, it stops at a multicolor screen before it reads the kernel.img....

Guys,

I got raspberry pi 3 Model B recently and struggling to run jasper on it. Since the available images of jasper installed raspbians don't boot on pi3, I had to manually install from the first. But after installing every package, I am struck still since it has more bugs. Does any one have a successfully installed package for pi3?

I am sorry to hear that. I am rebuilding the RPI2 image now; and when I am done I will try to work on the RPI3.  My problem is I only have 1 rpi3, and its 'In production use'; so taking it down is a pain.  As soon as I get a second I will have the RPI3 image up ASAP.

It works fine on RPI B+, but you may have performance issues.  I am closing this thread as it is more troubleshooting. Please take it to slack, I am happy to answer questions.
