Folks,
I've just spent the whole of two weeks having fun trying to get Jasper up and running...:). The compilation challenges kept me going over two weekends. Am travelling currently and have been working on my Raspi connecting to it remotely from my hotel room...:). The Raspi is part of my GoPiGo setup with a camera that's always on monitoring the house.
I am using a Raspi 2 with Jessie. I initially downloaded and used the master branch for Jasper, setup all the packages/dependencies as mentioned in the Jasper Installation guide (which i doubt is written for Raspi 2 and Jessie) and eventually encountered issues starting Jasper. In my quest for a solution i stumbled across many documents. One of them which helped resolve the issues is -
The question i have is as follows -
- The Jasper-dev directory is far smaller (~10MB compiled) than the main master branch which is ~71MB (compiled). While I've run the setup first on the master and then when i encountered issues switched jasper folders I am wondering if i am missing anything by using the Jasper dev branch?
- When using Jasper-dev where should i be placing the custom modules i.e. the programs i write to get the Raspi to do stuff I want it to do. Jasper (master branch) has a client directory which holds modules. Jasper-dev has a plugins folder. Just wondering where should i be placing the custom modules.
Great stuff guys. I am going to get home tonite and test out Jasper. Keeping my fingers crossed...:)
Cheers,
Trevor
