Dear JASPAR Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am reaching out with a question regarding some collections that were part of the JASPAR 2020 release but seem to be missing in the current JASPAR 2024 version. Specifically, the collections I am referring to are:

  • JASPAR CNE
  • JASPAR FAM
  • JASPAR PBM
  • JASPAR PBM_HLH
  • JASPAR PBM_HOMEO
  • JASPAR PHYLOFACTS
  • JASPAR POLII
  • JASPAR SPLICE

I was wondering if you could kindly clarify why these collections are no longer present in the latest release? Additionally, is the information found in the 2020 version of these collections still considered valid and usable for research purposes, or has it been deprecated or integrated elsewhere?

Your insight would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance for your time and support!

Best regards,

Simon Hoyer

In the 9th release of JASPAR, we discarded unused collections introduced in early releases of the database that either did not correspond to TF-specific binding profiles or were data-type specific. This is because they were seldom used.
You can use the 2020 version, though.
