Is this group still active? I haven’t seen any activity since last year and I’m wondering if it’s the group or my computer that’s not working.
I joined a couple of years ago and everything was fine until my old computer started to have problems. It became harder to receive postings and finally the computer died. I’ve since replaced it, but I haven’t seen any more postings; hence my question

I can't say that I have heard much from the group either, at least not recently. I have no idea if it is still active.

Guys,

I think it may be inactive since the Pisces was sold here in Seattle. Someone will need to take the lead and generate interest if the group is to survive.

Hi All,

Julia and I are still part of the group, but without new Jason 35 stories to share.

Twy is a manager (approve new member requests) but I believe he has sold his boat as well. If one of the existing owners would like to get manager status let us know and we'll add that.

We really always thought that keeping some sort of internet presence was good for the owners and the value of the boats, as they perhaps aren't as widely known as they ought to be!

I too wish to continue to participate in this group having bought a Jason 35 in October 2011 and joined the group last fall. I've been sailing through the winter getting familiar with the boat and expect to have stories and questions as the summer season progresses.

I haven't heard much from individual owners. I do know that #1 sailed to the Canal, crossed through to the Gulf and eventually made it over to Scotland, and return.   Quite a voyage!

Keep in touch.

My boat is for sale and I continue to approve new members to the
group. However, I contine to get emails from google stating the group
will soon be dropped. Hopefully someone (the original sponsor can
change that.

Hi,
I would be interested in hearing more about the Atlantic crossing in Jason #1 , who owned this boat?

Sorry Bill, but that was 35 years ago and my memory is not that good.
Somehow it rings in my mind that his first name was Bill, but I won't swear
to that. It was hull #1 though, for sure.

Cheers

Thanks Ted,
Was it perhaps Phil Swigard? Just trying to figure out some of my boats past history with no visible HIN.

Yes it was Phil Swigard. Well, I did remember that it rhymed with Bill!

I've no idea why there was no HIN, but I have seen other boats where the
paint had built up so deeply over the years that the HIN was blanked out.

Thanks Ted,
Well this is the boat that I now own as the title abstract shows him as the first owner. The hull has been painted several times so I expect the HIN is buried under that or sanded out. The US registration shows a different number and builder in Port Angeles though it is certainly built in the style of the other Jason's at Miller Marine.
Thanks for the tidbit about my boats history.

Jason #1 had a black hull and was completely finished by Miller Marine.
Because it was launched very early, it had the mast placed too far aft
and always had weather helm. For me, this was confirmed a couple of years
ago by one of its former owners. The first owner knew very little about boats. He was a real-estate
investor who had made a lot of money in California and who had just moved to
the Kitsap Peninsula with the intention of making another killing in Washington State. He believed everything that Al Pertner told him and, as a result, Jason #1 had 1300 pounds more ballast than Ted had specified and had a significantly heavier hull to boot.

Definitely a Miller Marine boat.

Cheers
