I'm not sure if this is the correct area to submit this question. If
it is not, if someone could please tell me where I should ask this, I
would appreciate it.

I am a php developer and know very little, if anything about Java. I
am developing some php applications that I want to run in an iframe
within uportal. I was wondering if there was any way for me to
retreive the username of the logged on user within uportal. We don't
currently use a CAS system, so I'm kind of looking for a way around it.
Can I retreive the username from a session variable and/or double
check that user against the uportal authentication? I'm not sure if
uportal uses cookies to store this information or what. If I'm way off
here, let me know, it's just an idea that I was thinking of persuing.

Thanks for the help,

Mark

Doug,

This is list for discussing developing the uPortal 3.x project itself, i.e.
framework development.

The place for your question is

jasig-portal@ unm.edu

where we discuss deployment and usage of uPortal, writing channels for it,
etc.
