I was, of course, disappointed to hear last October that no more
development was occurring. However, I was elated to see that new files
had been uploaded. However, I now have a somewhat different problem. I
work on a project that requires I use JDK 1.4.2 (Government,
naturally, never updates anything). Is there any possibility of
pulling together a version of the latest that will run under 1.4.2? I
will, if necessary, go through the source and strip out all the 1.5
features, but I wonder if you have an easier way? Thanks for your
consideration and go jarjar!

You can use retroveaver for example.
http://retroweaver.sourceforge.net/

Develop in 1.5 and build in 1.4

Thanks - tried that, keep getting a cryptic "Exception in Initializer"
problem when running Ant, which probably comes from the fact that the
version of ASM also uses 1.5. I'm tabling this for later
consideration.
