MICROSOFT RELEASES WINDOWS ME RC1
As mentioned in a previous tip, the first Release Candidate of Windows
Me (Millennium Edition)--RC0 Build 2525--was released to beta testers
May 8. Two weeks later, Microsoft sent Windows Me RC1 on its merry
way, moving one step closer to the final release. Microsoft's official
word is that they expect to release Windows Me during the second half
of this year. According to Paul Thurrott's WinInfo, you should see
Windows Me on new PCs and store shelves around the end of July.
In case you missed previous tips on the subject, Windows Me is geared
for the home user and will be the last full release of a Microsoft OS
based on the Windows 98 code base. Microsoft says Windows Me will
focus on digital media, the online experience, PC Health, and home
networking.
