Sir,
You are a founder-member of the Association who has been associated with the developer also. The same is the case with Sri Balakrishnan. I have been associated with Association since Jun 2001. Having served as Joint Secretary and President for more than two years, I am well-versed with the affairs of the Association.
As elders, it is our responsibility to develop and guide second and third rung leadership and guide them to take over the affairs of the Association. That's what I have been trying to do. But, if we start poking our nose every now and then, it leaves only bitterness all around.
With all humility at my command, I can say you have adopted an attitude of confrontation. All your suggestions could have been implemented by coaxing people about our good intentions. Unfortunately that was not to be. Therefore, the present situation has created only bitterness.
You and I can have any number of differences of opinion with the Executive Committee of the COM. But, confrontation is not the way.
You have made a serious charge about the accounts of the Association as if there had been some swindling. I am fully conversant with the Accounts and I can certify with all authority at my disposal that the Association accounts are very sound and they are in good and capable hands.
Therefore, when you made unfounded charges, I could no longer tolerate. Please remember that I was the one who piloted the motion for Exterior Painting in the AGM. I could no longer take it lying down. The methodical approach to the whole issue of Painting is worth emulating. Please do not forget that your son was the leader of the team entrusted with the task.
Regarding STP, again I was in the forefront to see that we achieve highest possible standard in treatment of sewage water and its disposal. Your analogy of chemical waste treatment is misplaced.
You may have any number of grouses against me - you can say I vetoed etc. It does not bother me because any stand I took was totally for the whole Association - and nothing personal about it.
What do you expect - that the Association should pass a resolution accepting the consequences of any of your action? Come on, Sir, you know better than that.
Is it some personal fight between us? - far from that. You have raised some issues but you are not ready to concede that you are wrong.
I still maintain that any financial inconveniences caused to the Association consequent to your steps, should be your responsibility.
Kindly weigh the pros and cons of your action and proceed as you may please.
You are elder to me and I cannot say more than this - let us fade away in such a manner that - even if youngsters do not see any worth in our contribution - they should not be bitter about us.
With best wishes
V Govindan
