hi, i hope u r all doing well. i boguht alicia keys today, and my novation launchkey 49 key midi controller also came in the mail 2day. however alicia keys isnt working., the specific issue is when i get into kontakt 7 it wont let me change the Port on the MIDI settings. im not familiar with MIDI this is my first MIDI controller ever and my first virtual instrument software ive purchased. how do i make alicia keys work? the stock virtual instruments in both cakewalk and reaper work just fine with my MidI controller. i am using windows 11. thx
Changing the Velocity Curve will affect how the piano will respond to your playing at different MIDI velocities, that is, how hard or softly you play the keys. With a positive or convex slope, the piano will be more sensitive to softer playing. When the slope is negative or concave, there is less response to softer playing and more sensitivity to harder strokes. There are 10 different velocity curves to choose from.
The same effect can be achieved without the use of the pedal, by silently pressing the keys corresponding to these harmonics instead (This has the same effect as pressing the Sustain Pedal on these strings). Using this method allows you to determine exactly which harmonics you would like to resonate.
Pedal Up: Controls the number of different resonance intervals for keys that are physically pressed, rather than sustained using the pedal. The higher the number, the higher the voice count and CPU usage.
Pedal Down: Controls the number of different resonance intervals for keys that are not physically pressed, but rather sustained using the pedal. The higher the number, the higher the voice count and CPU usage.
The settings in the Noise tab help further to achieve a more realistic piano sound. Here you can adjust how much sound the keys and pedals make when they are depressed and released. Furthermore, you can control the amount of microphone noise to create a static microphone effect.
The first one goes to out 1/2 of my rme fireface ufx+ and has loaded in kontakt (with Alicia keys) and as efx Ozone 9 (with all subeffects loaded in to increase latency time, that is about 460millisecs).
I had a lot of different patches with kontakt and it crashed all the time, but I started to use kontakt as a standalone player and created external instrument in mainstage and controlled it with program change with a instrument bank in kontakt.
Now, when I switch to Kontakt 5 as a Standalone and load the exact same multi as I used before, things are very different. In this mode, I can use the sustain pedal and hold down as many keys as possible with my forearm and run my hands up and down the keyboard with the resulting cpu load only being about 25-30%.
its great that NI is working with artists to bring mainstream and indie together. i personally use a hybrid subtractive synth *gasp* that i believe rivals this (at least for what i do). i have a lot of respect for alicia and hope this gets a great many synth-heads to check her music out that wouldn't have a reason to otherwise.
