I got this one today. I'm opposed to advertisement in general, no one
reads my blog anyhow, but I was wondering how many of you get emails
like this. Where's the scam?

Hi

We have spotted your blog and find it very appealing.

We would like to offer to pay for you in exchange for publishing html
links to Japanese commercial websites (no pornography).

I work for a Tokyo-based company called Jokey Gene. We do SEO (Search
Engine Optimization).

I can send you links to our website and partner sites so you can see
what the links look like. I do not send them in the first contact
email
as it is very often picked up as a spam email and goes straight to the
spam folder or the bin.

Could you tell me if you might be interested in this kind of offer? If
you are, I will send you more details about it.

I would be really appreciate if you could tell me even when you are
not
interested so that I do not clutter up your mail box.

Best regards,

I wouldn't a scam so much. More like underhanded SEO practices. I
didn't get this specific one but I get similar "offers" from time to
time. just ignore it. Reply and more spam will rain from the heavens.

I've gotten some offers like that, refused them all. If you're a small
blog and want to make money, connect with products and services you
yourself actually use and love, and try to do affiliate work with
them. IMHO, our numbers aren't big enough to shill for something we
don't believe in and not irk our readers.

I like playing with those people... kind of like scambaiters but a little less intense, haha.

Oh yea I'm going to ignore it, I was just wondering how wide spread it
was with the rest of the jsoc community.

Yeah, I'd ignore it. :p
Just about every blogger will get these. I fell victim to a Blogroll
scam a long time ago when I started blogging (the guy didn't return
the favor by putting a link to my blog even though I did for his blog,
which was irrelevant anyway). And a few months ago, I was asked if I
wanted to advertise my blog for a Facebook group's newsletter for $500
USD lol.

You guys are all too strange and weird for me.  I have gotten similar offers like this when my blog was at PR 0 and still earned close to a thousand USD by accepting similar offers and have the proof on my paypal account.  Don't get you people sometimes.
