Missing online forum/message board

Hello there,
It is a great community and I am really happy to be part of it but I
am kind of missing an online forum.
The group is OK but it is not very active. I read somewhere that there
was attempt for a forum but something went wrong (correct me if I am
wrong). There is so much ready software out there so I just wonder why
Japansoc does not have any online forum (or am I missing a point
here)?

Hi chottom. We tried a forum, but hardly anyone used it - much like
this Google group really! I think most people here get all the
interaction they need on Twitter and Facebook.

Hey chottom. There was a forum, but internal affairs deemed it
worthless and closed it. Personally, I think it was just too big with
an infinite number of subgroups and no one knew anything should be
posted. If you think there is enough interest in a nice simple group
for users of japansoc, Im sure i could get something up in no time.
There was also an awesome jbloggers conference thing but ... ahem.

This ongoing excuse about JapanSoc.org being spread over too many
sites is a real cop out. The fact is, everyone thought that a bloggers
group was a great idea, but no-one had anything to talk about. If you
disagree, look at the stats for the Google group to see how quickly
activity dropped even BEFORE we had forums. And consider how quiet
this group has been even when its the only remaining "nice simple
group for users of japansoc". Can't blame that on internal affairs.

I see.
May be we can give it a go one more time. May be very simple (as Jamie
suggested - just one or two sub-forums ("Japanese bloggers/
Japansoc.com" and "other" (for example)). After all it takes around a
minute to set it up and more or less the same time to close it (or at
least that's how it is from my Fantastico panel). Well if it's to be
moderated - this is another story.
Anyway - whatever you decide (needless to say I can open a forum on my
own. I even have one peacefully collecting electronic dust -

and I am going to look for more interesting articles on Japan :)
