88 Honda civic Fuse troublr

Hi I have an 88 Honda civic that keeps blowing the alternator/selaniod
switch fuse when it blows car just dies out and have to replace fuse right
away the fuses keep blowing. I brought it to a mechanic they say car has
major electrical prolems but I could tell they didnt want to get into it.
Is there anything I can do myslef or look at any tips hints would be greatly
appreciated.
