I know this is a little off topic (that is, there's no discussion of breasts
anywhere), but has anyone heard the rumours that Gainax are going to either
produce more Evangelion episodes, or remake some of the old ones? Just going
by what's in this month's edition of NewType USA magazine.
Any more info would be great! ^_^

They made director's cut versions of episodes 21-24 if this is what you are
referring to.

For anyone who wants these director's cutscenes:

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately I get a 404 when I try to download
the scenes. Know of any other places to get them?

I take it that there will be no English subs for this edition?

I'm talking about the remastered edition being released in Japan on R2 DVD
at the moment. Are they releasing it with English subs, or none at all?

The placement of English subtittles on Japanese released dvd does happen.
The Japanese Sprited Away dvd and Armitage III ova dvds both had English
subtittles on them. So there just might be a good chance if the trend
contiues.

Give it time, ADV will probally aquire the rights to them, as well.

Vaughn L.Porter
Too bad they couldn't have gotten the
movies
They would have done a way better job
than Manga did.

The announcement when they said they had the rights to the extended
episodes, they said they were "hopeful" or something of getting the
rights to this new remastered one as well...

so i may hold off on that austrailian DVD set just yet [UK£56 for
the set of 8 discs, or UK£20 per disc here, and only #1 and #2 are
out so far.. hmm...] ;-)

Australian?? where are you, in the UK or Australia? Here in Australia we
have the whole box set and have had for quite some time.

I'm in the UK. So far only volumes 1&2 have been released here @
UK£20 each, but www.cd-wow.com sells the australian boxset for
UK£56, or each volume for UK£10. So no contest, really ;-)

Don't forget those custom charges though...

The box set is a rather large target for them.

True true, but even then, £56+customs is a bit less than £140-160 for
the whole set at UK prices..

I managed to get my set through (Region 1) but was recently ambushed by the
buggers on my VOTOMS set. It really depends on if your DVD supplier is, how
shall I put it, customs 'friendly'

Heh, I've never imported more than one disc at at time[*] but I've heard
maaany
stories. I think CD-WOW are meant to be good at it, though..

[*] apart from the time I actually went to the US, and came back with ~£300
worth of DVDs, and then went through the "nothing to declare" bit at
Heathrow customs. but the less said of that the better ;-)
