I know that Death is a recap of the series, but what exactly is Rebirth? Is
it part of End of Evangelion or is it simply an introduction to the movie?
If it contains scenes that aren't in EoE, I'd like to get it, otherwise, I
don't exactly see the point in buying only part of the movie. What I'm
getting at is, should I or shouldn't I purchase and watch Death and Rebirth
before getting End of Evangelion?

Thanks!

Rebirth is basically the first part of EoE.

Death is indeed a recap but does contain some scenes that were not included
in the series, and until EoE gets released in this country (UK) I'm going
to have to hold my comments on rebirth till I've seen it, apart from asking
was there any need for the Shinji, Asuka hospital room scene at the
beginning

Yeah, I got Death & Rebirth after I bought EoE and felt kind of ripped
off.. Definately not necessary unless you want to be a completist. It
does have some new scenes, and some updated animation for some of the
old clips, but it's basically a rehash of eps 1-24, and the first 30
minutes of EoE. The editing is good, the extras are nice, but nothing
really special. The glossary is the best part, but really, it isn't
anything you couldn't find out by just looking it up online..

Death is enough, no need for rebirth.

Yeah, I guess I am too. I need to get everything I can on eva now.. I
guess maybe I'm a bit too hard on death & rebirth, I bought it after
I'd just finished watching End of Evangelion, so I was still reeling
in the shock of that movie.. I don't know, maybe I was expecting it to
explain things a bit more clearly, or atleast more new footage than
you see in the movie. The special features in this movie (and end of
eva) were a let down too.
