To all of you who thought that it might be fun to play at being nice or
offended at the fact that I threw an address into the group.

Shut up.

It's a public registration and I'm feeling cruel. No one's privacy has
been compromised, nothing bad has actually happened. If you don't like it
you don't have to read it. I'm not pushing it on anyone. So those of you
who are playing, you got no basis to be outraged for those of you who are
really offended, grow the fuck up.

Most of you should know by now that I don't give a crap if you don't like
what I'm doing. So stop wasting your time trying to shame me. It's a
pathetic waste of your time.

Don't quote that in my face! This is not a Netiquette issue! Perhaps you
should look into it before you jump the gun!

Did that person want to have his/her postal address disclosed on this
newsgroup?
I assume you don't know. So you shouldn't have done it.

"It's public information and it was in plain sight for all the world
to see"?
Well, if that's the case, why did feel the need to post it, as if it
was the result of some investigation you made?

You're right, it's not even about the netiquette. It's about common
sense and civility.

Obviously not. I don't wait for someone's permission before I look them up
in the phone book and give there number to my father so he can phone them
either though.

It was the result of an investigation I did. I did an investigation then I
wanted to see if people could guess who's address it was.

Are you suggesting that this doesn't comply with the rules? It's a little
big yes, but not overly so. It's not ASCII art, there's no pop-ups any
where and it's all relative to the group.

Anybody with an internet connection.

I'll agree with Olivier on this. What gives you the right to publish *anyone's*
address here? Because you wanted to see if anyone *recognizes* it? That's a
rather lame excuse.

I think the only thing you've managed to do is lower yourself in a lot of
posters' eyes. Not that you'd probably care. -_-

If this is below your expectations perhaps you would be better off
spending your energies in posting something worthy of your high standards
as opposed to throwing useless comments in about others.

Oh yes, lets see, 2 of you have voiced your distaste for this. That's
about 1% of the group postings I think. So lets kill me, about 50% of the
group posts. What am I talking about, that's not the point is it.

Hey Mark, grow up, get over it. He put that info on the web for the world
to see, why don't you realize that there has been no invasion of privacy,
no misconduct, nothing has happened. To go further, spammers don't scan
the web for mailing addresses, that would cost them money to send to.

It's all public. If someone wanted his info for malicious action all they
would have to do is exactly what I did!

You. Don't. GET IT. Stop rationalizing for a second, and just listen... er,
read.

So Morgan put his mailing address online for whatever reason. Does that give
you ANY right, at all, to post it whereever you please, without any form of
permission to do so? So Morgan's placing his mailing address on his website
doesn't constitute a privacy violation. That STILL doesn't give you the right
to do what you want with it.

Let me put it this way... put yourself in Morgan's shoes for a second. How
would YOU feel if someone posted your mailing address to a newsgroup? If it
were me, I'd be getting the guy kicked off his ISP for abuse violations(I don't
know if what you did constitutes any sort of abuse violation -- some ISPs might
frowm on this sort of thing), but that's just me.

And those two people... are you even including anyone who might have complained
in the other thread? Think about that one.

Now, if you continue to rationalize that you are completely in the right in
this instance, then there is no point in talking to you about this any further.

Bottom line is I have not done anything wrong. I have not done anything
that I don't have the right to do. When you put your information on a
public forum you are giving the public the right to do with it what they
wish to. You are effectively handing it out to everyone.

> Let me put it this way... put yourself in Morgan's shoes for a second.
How
> would YOU feel if someone posted your mailing address to a newsgroup?

If they got it from the same source or some other public forum I'd be
fine. It's my own fault for putting it there and if I did put it there I
know what the consequences are. You and anyone else are free to look it up
and post it. Hell I'll do it for you if you like, but I do keep the
information up to date as I've done a bit of moving lately.

If I were the ISP I'd be telling you it's your own damn fault for
releasing the info in the first place.

No, that would up the numbers a little. Say 4? I don't know have you
counted?

Disregard the previous comment. Still, that's no excuse to do what you did, no

Of course, everyone that has commented in my post on LiveJournal about this so
far agrees with me, basically stating that it was absolutely the wrong thing to
do, no matter what. Maybe I should also point them to the relevant threads on
Google, and let them judge for themselves further. But suffice it to say that
they don't like you.

No you are reacting and of course I am being rational. Tell me where it
says that rational thinking is bad.

Tell me where it says I can't do it! That's the world for you, the law
tells you what you can't do not what you can do. If I waited for
permission to do anything I'd sit here and starve to death.

Oh no no no Mark! I'm not going to disregard it just because suddenly you
feel like you are loosing your grounds for arguing. No you lost that one
as you should realize that you are loosing it everywhere else.

LiveJournal? You talking to a bunch of other people about what I have
done? So you are farming judgments on me behind my back are you? First, I
don't give a crap if they like me or not, you wanna give them medals for
it go ahead. Second, what the hell are they doing making judgments without
having read the material they are judging me on? What the hell is your
excuse for that?

Thanks for judging me on this one single post and totally disregarding my
years of contributions in all fields to the newsgroup both before your own
time and during your time. You have turned out to be quite the shallow
jackass yourself Mark.

Hmm very simple form of hostility though. Not a lot of thought goes into
it, not very focused or intense at all. Almost like you don't really mean
it.

So it's okay for you to go ahead, take someone's mailing address, and post it
to a newsgroup? I'm sorry, but no matter how many ways you flavor it, I still
don't buy it, and I never will. Maybe it's because I'm more of a *decent human
being* than you will probably ever be.

And by the way, I'm pretty sure there's an UNWRITTEN law about what you did,
but apparently you consider yourself above the law.

I'm shallow? Why, because I think what you did is immoral and irreprehensible?
Because I could never sink to such disgusting levels as you? Because no one is
willing to stand up and say, in no uncertain terms, "NO!" to the "Great"
Disaster?

Man, I used to think you were cool. Now I see you for the piece of crap you
*really* are.

I'm outta here. Enjoy your victory, you stinking pile of dung. >_<

If that person has made public the information then yes, it's okay. I
didn't let it out into the public they did. I don't need to flavor it, I
have the facts to back me up.

> And by the way, I'm pretty sure there's an UNWRITTEN law about what you

Think about what you just said Mark, an unwritten law? So it's not been
written, thus it doesn't exist and/or has no weight in society. Not only
am I above such a thing, so is every other human being in the world. Stop
arguing you are starting to make yourself look like an idiot.

What is this, a doctors exam now? You are aware of course that a second
opinion is only gotten when the same info is presented. Otherwise it's a
corrupt and invalid opinion when used for the same event.

Everyone has at one time stood up and shouted no Mark. It's hardly a fad
anymore. No Mark as I said, you are a shallow jackass because you twisting
the question to get the result you want. You present me in a bad light so
obviously those you are asking are going to consider me in a bad light.

Several years and you make a judgement like this? You are not Mark!

Yeah, good on you who ever you are. I hope Mark gets his account back
soon.
