It's all a matter of interpretation... Interpret it however you want...but this
is the way *I* see it.

Shinji is fed up of being rejected by Asuka. We all know that Shinji likes
Asuka... but Asuka (probably) doesn't like Shinji..(I'm not sure about this
since in EoE, she says that if she can't have all of Shinji, she doesn't want
him at all). So, shinji strangles her. There's nothing big here, of course,
this is all IMHO. Base what you see with what you believe.

Which episode does auska rejects Senji and he first shows his pent up
rage? Or is it just part of a flash back sequence?

In article <%wpW3.7382$Gk1....@news1.rdc1.sdca.home.com>,

The strangulation scenes, particular the first one, are some of my
favorite scenes in the whole EVA production.

To me that first one has got to be one of the most powerful and
schocking scenes in any movie I have ever seen. It is just so primal, so
raw. I feel that Shinji has just had enough, he wanted to talk to Asuka,
to get her to open up, and she not only didn't want to she completely
and utterly ripped him apart. She tore him down and totally rejected
him. Shinji just cracked, he couldn't take it any more, so he did the
most un-shinji thing imaginable, he fought back, he stopped hiding and
running away. He didn't jsut go to his room and listen to his music, he
had tolerated so much and deceided he didn't want to anymore. That once
scene to me is one the best in the whole series, up with the Unit 1
gripping Kaworu scene, and the Shinji kissing Asuka in her sleep one.

And thats all I have to say about that.

I think it was Episode 9: Both of You, Dance Like You Want to Win! Asuka
and Shinji had to sleep, eat, and do almost everything togeather to try
and synchronize their battle moves. One night Asuka plonked down next to
Shinji to sleep and he opened his eyes and his face was practically in
her cleavage and he kissed her.

Wait no, wrong, sorry :)
He almost did, jstu checked then.

Asuka: You are lying! You tried to kiss me at the lips.

Shinji: Unfair! You were awake that time?

Asuka: That's terrible! I meant as a joke! You really did it?

You kissed me?

Shinji: No, I didn't. I stopped.

(thanks Literal Translation Series by Onizuka Kentaro)

I was sure that he said "No, I didn't mean to."

Oh well.

But they did kiss each other in the 15 th episode ("these women longed
for others lips and thus invited their kiss " ? I don't have the tapes

Yes they did.
The big question is : considering some scenes in EoE/Heart, did the
two went any further or was it just another fantasy in Shinji's shaky
mind ?

_Some_ scenes? Personaly, I'd say there is just one?
The two cuts following the sandcastle sequence are really
intriguing...

There was also a line that was supposed to be said by Asuka, but was
changed. Just before the live sequence, Asuka says "but if I have to
become one with you, I'd rather die!", but in the storyboards, she
said "if you want to have sex with me, just beg! like you always
did!"... Weird, huh? ^^;

Ok, forget the s, I mean some peculiar and suggestive scene in EoE ^^
(two shots, exactly). By the way, sorry for the "did the two went", I
was a bit tired :7

>The two cuts following the sandcastle sequence are really

You've got it :)
It's sometimes hard to tell in the movie what is dream/fantasy from
what is memory of actual facts. Another example is the first
strangling scene in Misato's kitchen (which gets us back to the topic
of this thread :) If it really happened, it could add some good
reasons to Asuka's leaving in ep23. Then again, it may be just another
dreamed sequence like in "Take care of yourself"... Who knows ?

Indeed !
Other spicy yet confounding lines like that in those storyboards ?

I'm still wondering about the kitchen scene... ^^;
In redone episode 24, we learn that Shinji said to Asuka that Kaji was
dead, and that may explain why she left Misato's mansion...

But there is a strange cut, in Evangelion: Death (True)²... Just
before Shinji met Kaoru for the first time, he's thinking about Misato
(cut of Misato crying because of Kaji's last message), Rei (cut of the
Rei clones floating in LCL), maybe Ritsuko, I'm not sure (I think it
was Ritsuko crying, just after she destroyed the clones), and Asuka
(cut of Asuka (crying?) in the dinner room of Misato's mansion).

It looks like it took place _after_ Asuka heard about Kaji's death,
but before she left the mansion... And this cut (surprisely absolutely
unseen in the whole series, movies included!) may take place _a few
seconds before the kitchen scene_! ^^;

That would mean the kitchen scene was a "real" flashback... and
explain why Asuka left Misato's appartment between episodes 22 and
23...

I'm also wondering about Misato's last lines: "if I knew it would end
this way... I would've done like Asuka said... and changed the
carpet... right, Pen²?"...
What the hell is she talking about??
What carpet??
I thought it may be related to the kitchen scene (uh-uh... somebody
ruined the carpet with coffee ^^; ), but there was NO carpet in this
scene, unfortunately... ^^;

>Other spicy yet confounding lines like that in those storyboards ?

Asuka's last line. ^___^

In the storyboards, she was supposed to say "no way I'll let you kill
me!".
But I heard Anno asked Miyamura Yuuko (Asuka's voice actress) to think
about another line... So it looks like the infamous "kimochi warui"
was written by Miyamura, not by Anno! ^^;

[Gossip mode on]

Actually, I think Anno had a crush on Miyamura... ^^;;;
When he asked her to think about this line, he was probably hoping for
some kind of "positive reaction" to his advances... ^^;;;
Anyway, when he eventually heard that this line would be "kimochi
warui" (something among "what a disgusting feeling"), he looked,
well... shocked... ^^;;;;;

[Gossip mode off]

I really don't know if this is total bullshit or not... But if you
know about the true origins of Anno's post-Nadia-breakdown, you have
to admit it is plausible... ^^;

Hmm, Asuka and Pen² used to lay on the carpet in the living-room,
watching dumb soaps on TV. She may have complained about it not being
soft enough...
But, wait... when Misato collapses in the elevator, she's just given
"an adult kiss" to Shinji and promised him "the rest" when he gets
back. So if she knew that "it would end this way", she would have
managed to "do the rest" before, and maybe she had already planned
some romantic scenario involving the carpet...

Well, he was in love with Hidaka Noriko (a voice actress... Jean
(Nadia), Akane (Ranma 1/2), Noriko (GunBuster), etc...), and ask her
to marry him (it was in 1991, I think...). But she said she didn't

Rats ! ^^
I always thought he'd made Eva just as a self-cure for his "otakism".
Now you tell me I have to include some affairs with actresses into the
bargain... Let me say I find that disappointingly ordinary from him :)

Grrr.... my fansub _really_ sucks, I can't wait 'til I can see the
official, (please, hopefully pleease) better translation in April!!
Anyways, maybe she's just thinking about inconsequentials, like
something Asuka complained about earlier (Can't you easily hear Asuka
yelling at Misato to junk some ugly carpet?).

Wow, good info! I have to say, if creating Eva is what he does when he's
down, he should get dumped more often!! ...Sorry, that wasn't a good
thing to say, but seriously, he handled depression a _lot_ more
constructively than most people!
