While I was in San Francisci i purchased an NGE figurine (Eva 03) and on the
back of the packet it has a picture of the never-to-be-seen-in-the-series
Eva 04. Do you ever get a glimpse of this Eva anywhere at all? Or did they
just make it up outta the blue?

I think that was the one that went BOOM when they were testing the S2
Engine prototype. Unless there was a deleted scene floating around, a
concept sketch or some reference in a game that I dunno about, it's not
been seen.

I think that's just about it, except for the action figure.

Well, that looks like the action figure.

Where is that picture from exactly?

The Bandai Evangelion 04 High Grade model box, like what was said earlier,
04 was never shown in the series so it must have been developed from concept
sketches or just a copy of 03(which it is).

what exactly is the S2 engine anyways? I noticed all of the completed
production model Evas had one. It's been a while since I watched the
series so my memory's a bit hazy.

It stands for "Super Solenoid", and the theory of how it works was apparently
part of Misato's father's work. But as far as I can tell, it's a magic engine
that gives its owner unlimited energy.
