Well, as a rank beginner I can tell you that the diatonic keyboard was a huge put-off.   Already as I experiment with my new Janko I am beginning to see why they made the piano like it is - the sweet harmonies in the key of C tend to be easier to finger.  To me though, I'd rather endure slightly harder fingering in C to have something that explains rather than obscures music.   So far at least - what do I really know?  :-)

This is a cute little "ad".  I could rant for awhile in response; but I'll offer a little musical example instead.  One can easily come up with lots and lots of these. 

See how fast you can play these two chords over and over on a conventional piano.  Then try it on a Janko, such as Noel's Decker Bros., or one of mine.  I think it will be easier even on a Chromatone, though I'm not sure.

Hi Paul,

In the past days I've been playing a jazz song on Janko using tenths in the left hand throughout the song. I couldn't do that on trad piano. I acknowledge the benefits of the Janko layout, but I thought this 'ad' might be a funny way of adressing the fact that along with these advantages come disadvantages too, or challenges if you will.

To open the discussion about them and how to overcome them seems useful to me.

I might have some questions to you about how to tackle fingering issues, as soon as I've found some kind of structural 'problem' that may easily be described.
