Free Chromatone offer

Hi Folks,

I just saw that the webpage, https://chromatone.jp/online-shop/en.html, says that the inventor, Wataru Ohkawa, is giving away the Chromatone CT-312 for free!

Is this genuine? Why are they doing this?

I've "applied" for one, and they sent me an email saying "Congratulations! We will be shipping the Chromatone soon". The shipping is Y26500, which sounds reasonable.

Has anyone here received one of these from that website? How long did it take to arrive? Are they new/seconds/refurbished?

Yes it is legit!  I have one through this offer, and so have many others around the world. I have the Revolution, first impression was the keys were a lot smaller than I thought they'd be.  But I've gotten used to that and I love it!

Oh yes, forgot to mention that it took them 2 or so weeks before they shipped it.  But after it was shipped it took about 4 days to arrive.

I can also confirm the offer is legit. My theory is that Chromatone was created by a guy who is passionate about Janko keyboards and was hoping his keyboards would take off, but (as always with Janko) they never really got popular. After 30 years, maybe he is thinking of calling it quits, and now he just wants as many people to play with his keyboards as possible.  

When I bought, the Revolution was out of stock, and I think it's a while-supplies-last deal. I got a CT-312 for free earlier this year, although shipping to the US was around $250. I remember being surprised that the keyboard came so fast, when just about anyone would prefer a cheaper, non-expedited shipping rate. Still, it's a great deal.
