I had a 6+6 vibraphone built to my design and I have been playing it for 15 years or so. I invented a completely symmetrical coloring scheme for my instrument. I know the members of this group appreciate the symmetry of Janko and other variants of the 6+6 idea, so I wonder, why reintroduce the asymmetry of a 7+5 coloring scheme, or any other non symmetrical pattern? For your consideration, here is a talk I gave at Stanford on my design and how I use it to access jazz harmony. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2gbn9vOk4Y

As a reinforcement to Roy's post, here is a cross post I made in January 2018 on the 'diykeyboard' forum, showing the new malletSTATION layout, which can be adapted to any key color scheme. So this type of vibraphone can now be bought off the shelf.
