I've been using an AI program (OpenAI Jukebox) that will take music that you provide it, and extend it in various styles. I was kind of blown away that Jandek was among the 4111 artists whose work they vacuumed up for their database to train the program.

I've been using it to extend my own music, but when I found Jandek on their list, I decided to extend Jandek in the style of Jandek (as interpreted by Jukebox), using Jandek inspired lyrics (provided by https://textsynth.com/).

You can listen to my first 4 results, let me know what you think:

With appropriately Corwoodian art provided by Dall-E.

I next thought of Adam Neely's infinite bass solo, created in cooperation with Dadabots, you can hear it at:  https://youtu.be/RRwJzw4VvZA
(and learn how it was done here:  https://youtu.be/2xMhRwxXJTc)

It occured to me that with such a large body of recorded work, Jandek's work alone (unmixed with the Eagles, Carlos Gardel, Napalm Death, etc) would make an outstanding dataset for a new channel of endless music (with much better results than Neely's 2 hours of improvising provided).

I recognize that Jandek and his fans value, maybe above all else, authenticity, so this is an idea that probably appeals to no one, but one could exist in a soundscape of always new, always changing Jandek-like music.  How cool would that be? It would be a nice way to wile away the hours waiting for new real Corwood releases.

Hi,

This is very interesting. I'm actually kind of intrigued by this idea...I'm not sure that Jandek would disapprove, hehe. AI-generated ambient Jandek does sound kind of cool. It's sort of another way of enveloping yourself in the Jandek universe and one that was not available before, so why not?:) That doesn't diminish how special each Jandek record is...like Matt said, it's a way of whiling away time (admittedly a relatively short one, given prolific Jandek is) between releases:)

Cheers,
Boris
