You folks are better to me than I deserve, that's for sure. I really should start with a couple of caveats:
I know that AI generated art and Jandek are about as opposite as could be. One is the result of the (controversial) scraping of untold numbers of intellectual properties of countless creators to generate generally slick and emotionless images. The other is the toil of one person (and people willing to follow that person's creative vision), on a hard, solitary path that has proven an example to the world of the possible in an increasingly soulless and monetized world.
However, I lack a Jandekian ethic (both work and moral) so I keep playing around with this stuff.
Though Gino Vannelli's music is a world away from Jandek's, I always thought that the Storm At Sunup album cover (attached, if it's allowed) has Jandekian elements,,, the isolation, the loneliness of the two people on the cover, and a bit of the color scheme (particularly the light coming in through the window). I also have always thought it would make a good ad for an erectile dysfunction remedy, but that's another story.
I couldn't resist collaging together the "Storm at Sunup" album cover with "Ready For The House" (still my favorite Jandek cover) using microsoft's Paint (I'm going to learn Photoshop one of these days) and adding the Rep's head to Gino's body. I love some of the results (where the AI turned Gino's bare chest into a shirt, and the girlfriend into a dog, for example) and I hope you guys enjoy this as a bit of harmless fun.
Along the way, I was struck with the idea there is something Jandekian about Edward Hopper's paintings, and I'm working on a series. Maybe Francis Bacon is next. Or Kevin Bacon, who knows.
