Can anyone shed light on the note from Corwood regarding the 2005 reissue of Ready For the House: “…track 3 second 124, the word ‘do’ was recaptured from the vinyl and inserted. Somehow it got transposed to the word ‘feel’ in one of the two previous CD masters”? See: https://tisue.net/jandek/discog.html#0739.

I assume this refers to the 2nd reissue, as the first is as it should be. The notion that it was somehow transposed is curious, as it would take a very deliberate effort somewhere along the line. Apologies if this has already been discussed, I did poke around in the archive.

If someone has a copy of this particular issue for sale, let me know. I would love to hear what this is all about. Can’t help but think of “Why Did I Change a Word in the Last Song.”

Thanks,
Ryan

I had never noticed that note from Corwood before. I have the original CD release and a later one that I guess must be the 2005 reissue, because the insert of the word "do" is very noticeable. Throughout the track the vocals are center-right, except on the word "do," where the voice is suddenly on the left side. Which is extra peculiar, because on the original vinyl the vocals are on the right side. There's a loud exhalation right after the word "do" on the vinyl, which is probably why the edits happened in the first place. On the first CD issue you can hear how the word "do" cuts off unnaturally.

All of the uploads of the RFTH CD on YouTube seem to be using the original CD release, except for the "Nightcore" version, which uses the 2005 reissue (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vhs6DdaGdeU with "do" insert at 8:17).

There are three CD issues listed on Discogs: one from 1999, one from 2005, and one "unknown." So I guess we're looking for a CD with matrix number 6486-12503/SID Code IFPI A605, since that's the "unknown" one.
