“An innovative ensemble that explores a dizzying range of styles, from Appalachia and Asia Minor to Eastern Europe. The quintet plays swirling, hard-driving music that always seems to end up in unexpected places.” SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE

“They’re a band to watch, with some sterling musicianship and a real sense of fervor about them.” SING OUT!

Lila Sklar became fascinated with the music of the Middle East and the Balkans in her early 20s and participated in a nationwide tour playing Turkish Sufi music with vocalist Latif Bolat. Around that time, Lila also began playing and singing in several bands. In addition to recording on many film and television productions, Lila has toured and performed extensively throughout the US, Japan, Europe, and the Middle East playing with such groups as Beats Antique, Bauhaus, Joanna Newsom, Rosin Coven, Bjork, The Quarta Dolce Quartet,  Beulah, Gypsy Caravan, Sherefe, The Toids, and members of Cirque Du Soleil. She has performed in many venues and festivals including The Green Man Festival (UK), The Bumpershoot Festival in Seattle, Britt Festivals, The Carmel World Music Festival, The Royal Albert Hall, Disney Concert Hall, Knitting Factory New York, Knitting Factory Los Angeles, Yoshis Jazz Club, and The Fillmore.

Howdy folks. Don't forget to come out to the Red Poppy Art House this Friday night to be serenaded by luscious Albanian harmonies, dizzying Cretan melodies and dreamy Appalachian -Epirotica in a cozy, living room environment. Now, doesn't that sound too good to miss?? We've been having loads of fun adding Lila Sklar's mesmerizing violin and sweet vocals to our mix, and can't wait to share these sounds with you.

So, come out, come out, wherever you are! Look forward to seeing you.

Juliana, Tom, Peter, Dan, Gari and Lila
