Hello Friends,
We invite you to come out this Thursday night for the monthly installment of the Berkeley Balkan Bacchanal at the Starry Plough. Janam (quartet for this show) will be sharing the evening with Danubius and Disciples of Markos. It will be yet another memorable evening at the Plough, so come on out and have some fun with us.
And mark your calendars for Saturday, December 15 for our return to Viracocha, the speak-easyish, amazing energy spot in the Mission. We'll be sharing the evening with Taluna, ethno-folk band on tour from Italy.
And we have wonderful news...we have a new band member! Violinist/vocalist Lila Sklar has agreed to tie the knot. Lila is a superb musician and tons of fun, and we are very excited to have her on board. She will be joining us at Viracocha for her first official show.
And I wanted to mention that Dan and I (with True Life Trio) will be joining the cast of the California Revels for this year's production of "Celestial Fools" in December. Come see it - we have really awesome costumes.

Ok, hope to see you on Thursday!

Ciao dear friends!
Please join us next Saturday night for a great double-bill at Viracocha, a truly awesome San Francisco venue with an underground, speak-easy vibe and excellent sound. The show will open with the high-energy, "Italian Gypsy Ethno-Folk" band, Taluna, on tour from Italy - they are super fun and you must check them out. Janam will round out the evening with yummy Albanian, Greek, Sephardic & American traditional melodies plus some sumptuous originals. Come celebrate the season with us and enjoy the new violinic (I'm sure that's a word) and vocal textures we're creating with our new band member, Ms. Lila Sklar. Come early to get a good seat...
And don't forget you can catch Dan and I (with True Life Trio) this weekend and next in the California Revels production of "Celestial Fools" at the Scottish Rite Center in Oakland. It's a visually and sonically stunning show.

Hope to see you soon!

TALUNA:
"A common thread runs from Dubrovnik to Vukovar, passing through Belgrade, touching lightly Tirana and Athens. A thread flowing underwater touching Brindisi and passing through Mediterranean, skimming the Andalusia coast. A thread moves on guitars and violins chords, rebounds on leather drums curving on the accordion keys. Knot of these connections, these are Taluna. Band formed by four musicians with different roots and backgrounds, moving their first steps in 2008 in Turin (Italy); an immigrant’s city become a melting pot of Central European and North African cultures. GAIA MOBILIJ Calabrian lyre and accordion, MARCO GHEZZO violin, LUCA RUSSO acoustic guitar, PEPPINO LEONE percussions and traditional Southern Italian frame drums are the means of this mental, spatial and musical voyage - between gypsy and sephardic sounds, Balkans syncopated rhythms and the obsessed tarantella."

Giuseppe Leone: vocals, percussions
