Definition of Earnings Season

·         Period of time during which a large number of publicly traded companies release their previous quarterly earning reports in the months of January, April, July or October.

 

Why are Corporate Earnings Important to Investors?

·         Earnings drive stock prices.

·         Active period in the market as analysts, traders and investors review the earnings results and hence may affect their positions on or in a company.

·         Usually active movements in the shares of companies releasing reports as the market reacts to the new data.
