to James Hillman: Imaginal World
In his book "Sou's Code" Hillman uses the image of the acorn. The
acorn is the seed of the oak. It has the oak within it. All oaks are
unique, some skinny and tall, some fat, short and broad. All of that
is in the acorn waiting to grow into what it will be. Some will do so
based on the ground on which they fall and the circumstances that give
them what they need to reach any of their potential. The soul is the
same and give its nourishment, and circumstance, it will transform
into its potential either in part or in full. That is the theory of
the acorn in a nutshell.
