to James Hillman: Imaginal World
No way Hillman is one person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By Patrick - 1/14/02
I have just tumbled upon the obvious truth that Hillman is a
collection of writers, a soulmaking polemical monotheistaclastic
highbrow version of those gangs of clever wits who write the best of
the brilliant American sitcoms like Frazier and Caroline in the city
(but not Friends, who quickly became a bunch of caricatures). I am so
happy that my inferiority complex has at last revealed quick Hermes
who has flashed his lightning insight to 'see through' the myth of
Hillman. There are about 50 of the bastards, no wonder he (he,
hahahahaha, he, he like Lao Tzu!) is so fucking prolific and clever
and able to substantiate his savaging of, of, well everyone, even
himself (the mirror is dead, long live the mirror! Soul making is
narcissistic, Keats was too far up his own arsehole, etc, etc,) They,
the Hillmans, are a possee of disgruntled Jungians who didn't like the
funny phrase of Jung -'I'm glad I am Jung and not a Jungian' and
decided to seek revenge on anyone interested in clarity and self
knowledge by making sense of those who went before them. Everyone had
to be humiliated, everyone had to doub't their reality and feel
ashamed of wanting to know anything, so the Hillmans (think about it,
what do you get if you pile fifty men on top of each other? A Hill of
course, of men, Hillmen, singularised to hillman in order to maximise
the humiliation of never being able to come close in input of
philosophical and psychological knowledge from the last ten thousand
years, or the input of fifty clever bastards all helping each other to
reach their highest levels of productivity in terms of sheer volume
and excellence of content. So, we who have been bitten by the
brilliant bug of THEM, are doomed to feel inadequate or to feel the
pain of hubris if we ever try to emulate HIM/THEM because we are
doomed to fail. Me, I am working a lot, socialising a little, trying
to read (always been a rubbish reader) and have just become a
grandfather (a youngish one I pathetically hasten to add) and I now
feel free from the cunning plot by the Hillmans to humiliate all who
would seek a little clarity whilst living the mystery of life. It is
2: 35 am, I have to be up at 7, I have a busy day, I cannot sleep, but
later today I will look at my unread hillmans (notice the absence of
an apostrophe, haha) and laugh, because now I know the truth. I AM OK,
I AM NOT AN IMBECILE, AM NOT SECRETLY BEING FED TEMAZAPAM, (though I
could use some now as it happens).
Thank God(s) for this website on sleepless nights. Good night I hope.
I hope I dream now, and will spend some of the daylight interpreting
the dream and annexing its latent meaning to my now free to become
strong and Apollonic ego. Hillman is dead, long live the Hillmans.
