Romi,
As your 75 year old father, I want to share my thoughts and feelings with you on your special day because no one knows if I’ll be around or able to share this at your next milestone birthday. So, why wait!
Happy Birthday Daughter! Today you are the BIG 5-0. It’s hard for me to believe that you’ve been a special part of my life for half a century. It seems like it was only yesterday when we were roller skating in the park, sledding, or skiing down a slope in Pa.
As I watched you grow up, I had a growing feeling of joy and pride for the person you were becoming; a person of integrity who is loving, loyal, focused, resilient, generous, balanced, and protective. Your grandfather and I often laugh when we recall the day when you, a toddler, clocked him with your glass bottle and ran away after he teased you by saying he was going to beat up your daddy when I came over to pick you up from his house. Talk about protecting the ones you love!
Today is your special day. Enjoy it! What the heck, make it a special weekend if you want. You deserve it!
With my deepest love,
Dad
