Well at least it feels like I've turned a corner as I now get zero
lockups with GAIL and it's rock solid with GEdit. So i've managed to
get some coding done and pull down menus now work. More needs to be
done for the popup menu that appears on from the open toggle button in
the toolbar.

Typically I just tried it in Minefield and it locks up almost
immediately. Pah!. Oh will at least I've got *something* to work
reliably.
