Brad, Great synopsis of the events. A few thoughts from the Venturing side.
Patches - There should have been a Venturing Logo Patch included.
Clothing- Agree with the confusion of what and when to wear what. I think rain gear would have been appropriate. I don't think alot of us knew exactly what was being ordered.
Luggage - Perfect for the carry on and Jambo. If you cut down the size, I don't think there would have been enough room for everything.
Equipment at Jambo: The stoves at the Venturing sites were moldy, however after a few uses were fine. Tents were good, however difficult to zip in a rainstorm. There was not enough tables provided in the Venturing area. One more dining fly and couple tables would have made a big difference.
Site Power - Poor. However, again out of our control. Possibly power strips listed on adult equipment list
Pre-trip food- The food was adequate, however always late at the YMCA.
Jambo food - Way too much food provided on the Venturing side. Alot of waste. For scouts with severe food restrictions, I believe there should be a parent required to go with their scout. On the Venturing side, when special trips for food was needed there was shortage of adults with the rest of the group.
Also, I don't believe on the pre-trip there was special food provided. If there was it was't designated.
Documents at Jambo- none were asked for. So the 3 copies carried was a waste. The info provided to Jambo was lost such that our Venturing Crew never received Credentials. And ones that finally got them, on that Thursday, were incomplete or incorrect. Thank goodness we didn't need them.
Thanks for all that was done by all the individuals that got us there and back in one piece.
