Warning- be careful .
A member of the Jamaica bay Ecowatchers just reported a kite string at the visitor center trail by bench 9. He removed as much as he could to make it safe & looks like the kite is in West Pond where the string could entangle Wildlife . He notified a maintenance worker .

I suggest getting good documentation photos of the string, Kites and any damage to wildlife. This will be important in getting elected officials to get involved should it come to that.

Yes Andrew you are spot on and that is what we are doing we have quite a few pictures of the kite string
seven kites collected yesterday off the island and unfortunately some birds that have been harmed by this process
