Everyone bring whatever instrument you can play, a hipscarf and a friend. At Jalsah, everyone participates! Bring any instrument: recorder, flute, sax, trumpet, oboe, violin, cello, guitar, djembe, darbuka, conga....you get the idea! There will be sheet music to borrow or to purchase. Melissa and Carmine will lead you in a jam session based upon Middle Eastern melodies!
Dancers: Open floor bellydancing all night, so all you dancers, come out and groove to some live bellydance music! If you are dance teacher, please encourage your students to come to the Jalsah. If three of your students purchase advance tickets at http://www.thejalsah.com/pages/Pittsburgh, then you can come for free! Dance teachers please bring business cards and flyers about your classes, this is a great chance to network.
Carmine Guida will be teaching a Begintermediate Darbuka/Doumbek workshop. This class is geared toward beginner drummers as well as intermediate drummers. The focus is on seamless rhythm changes and interesting rhythm combinations. The workshop starts at 6:30PM on October 24 and costs $15. With the workshop. entry to Jalsah is free.
